OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University volleyball team dropped in three sets to Ohio Saturday night at Millett Hall. The visiting Bobctas won by a score of 25-17, 25-13, 25-17. Miami moves to 5-18 (1-10 MAC) on the season, while Ohio improves to 12-11 (7-4 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The RedHawks jumped ahead after
Maggie McCrary and
Ellie Hanson recorded back-to-back kills to open play. The Bobcats responded by taking an 8-4 lead before a pair of kills from
Breannah Peterson helped the Red and White come within two at 11-9. As the end of the set approached, Miami remained within striking distance at 18-15 thanks to a Hanson service ace. The Bobcats closed the set with a 25-17 victory.
At the start of the second set, Miami tied the score at 5 apiece after Ohio recorded two attack errors.
Gentry Warrick and
Chelsea Williams each put down a kill to keep the RedHawks within three at 11-8. Not long after,
Raegan Lantz put down a point to keep Miami within five, but the Bobcats went on to win the set 25-13.
The Bobcats had a strong start in the third set, forcing a Miami timeout at 14-5. Despite a collection of Kills from
Caroline Cermack and Hanson, Ohio looked to close the set out at 22-12. The RedHawks fought until the end, dropping the last set 25-17.
