BATTLE OF THE BRICKS: The RedHawks continue conference play by hosting Ohio University this Friday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. Each match will take place at Millett Hall and Friday's match can be streamed on ESPN+.
ABOUT OHIO: Ohio holds a 10-11 (5-4 MAC) record, after most recently splitting a pair of matches with Bowling Green last week. At the head of the program is Geoff Carlston who is coming off of a 20-12 (13-5 MAC) season in 2022. Caitlin O'Farrell currently leads the Ohio attack with 3.49 kills per set (283 total kills). Tria McLean (412 assists/7.63 per set) and Parker Kwiatkowski (257 assists/10.28 per set) lead all Bobcats in facilitating. Defensively, Alex Laboy has averaged a team-high 4.11 digs per set (349 total digs). Elizabeth Hoerlein (65 blocks/0.86 per set) and Anna Kharchynska (68 blocks/0.82 per set) lead the Bobcats in blocking. Various Bobcats rank among top MAC statistical leaders per set. O'Farrell finds herself at fifth in hitting percentage, fifth in kills and sixth in points. McLean ranks eighth overall in assists. Sam Steele show up at sixth in digs and tenth in service aces.
OPPONENT HISTORY: Miami and Ohio first clashed in 1974. This Friday will mark the 95th meeting between the two teams. The RedHawks are 53-41 all-time against the Bobcats. Miami holds a 29-15 home record, 17-20 away record and a 7-6 neutral record when facing Ohio. The last time the Red and White defeated Ohio was on Mar. 13, 2021 in a 3-2 match.

UP NEXT: Miami next travels to Eastern Michigan on Friday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. The RedHawks stay on the road to face Central Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.
YOUTH MOVEMENT: This season sophomore Ellie Hanson has led the offensive charge, as she holds a team best 245 total points (215 kills total). She also ranks first on the team in digs (221) and service aces (25). In the first three weeks of play, Hanson made the all-tournament team in the Tiger Brawl, Miami Invitational and Redbird Classic. Sophomore Hayden Hicks notched a career-high 54 assists against Cleveland State in the Miami Invitational and was named to the all-tournament in the Tiger Brawl. Freshman Chelsea Williams is currently second on the team with 2.83 kills per set (195 kills total). She was named to the all-tournament team in the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational.
MAC LEADERS: Three RedHawks rank among MAC statistical leaders. Senior Maggie McCrary currently sits at eighth in hitting percentage (.316). She has recorded 93 total kills in 66 sets played. Gentry Warrick has flashed on the defensive end for the RedHawks, as she ranks fifth in blocks per set (0.94). Sophomore Hayden Hicks has been a key facilitator for Miami, as she ranks tenth in assists per set (6.50).
HICKS EARNS 1,000TH CAREER ASSIST: Hayden Hicks handed out the 1,000th assist of her career in Miami Volleyball's match against Ball State. Hicks finished with two kills and 42 assists between Miami's two matches last week (18 vs. Toledo, 24 vs. BSU) and added seven digs against the Cardinals. The sophomore setter from Frisco, Texas now owns a total of 1,012 assists as a RedHawk.
GREAT RETURNS: Of its 15-player roster, Miami returns 12 RedHawks from the 2022 roster. Seniors Maggie McCrary and Taylor Nomanson lead a solid veteran group. They are joined by juniors Caroline Cermack, Brooke Cirigliano, Margo Lawson and Gracie Norris. The sophomore class is comprised of Ellie Hanson, Hayden Hicks, Emily Morgan and Gentry Warrick. Also returning is redshirt-sophomore Brooke Jackson and redshirt-freshman Amyah Cooper.
FRESH FACES: Miami boasts three newcomers on its 2023 roster, who will look to make their impact this season. The talented group of newcomers are Raegan Lantz, Breannah Peterson and Chelsea Williams.
THE BROOKE JACKSON STORY: Brooke Jackson has always been competitive. It's easy for fans to see that in a Miami Volleyball match. ECLIPSING 750 CAREER WINS: With a 3-0 win versus Buffalo on Jan. 22, 2021, Miami head coach Carolyn Condit posted her 750th career win. Condit owns a 781-625 career record in her 44th season as a head coach. Owning more victories than any coach in any sport in the history of Miami's storied athletic department, known as the Cradle of Coaches, Condit holds a 682-547 record and is in her 40th season in charge of the Red and White. Condit is the only volleyball coach in the history of the Mid-American Conference to win more than 300 league matches, holding a conference mark of 376-255.
