OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University hockey team fell 8-0 to (RV) North Dakota in the series finale Saturday night at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena.
The RedHawks (7-17-2, 2-13-1 NCHC) were able to keep the score low in the first period, only allowing one goal from UND (12-11-4, 6-8-2 NCHC). The Fighting Hawks pulled away from there, finishing with a total of five special teams goals (four on the power play, one shorthanded).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- 9:40 1st (UND 1-0) | North Dakota opened up scoring midway through the first period. Jackson Blake received the puck halfway into Miami's zone, but sent it back to Chris Jandric to find better positioning. Jandric passed up to Riese Gaber, who took it the rest of the way for the power-play goal.
- 4:17 2nd (UND 2-0) | The Fighting Hawks added another goal to their tally with a shorthanded score toward the start of the second period. Mark Senden intercepted the puck in UND's zone and brought it all the way down the ice, making a pass across to Judd Caulfield to make it 2-0.
- 10:08 2nd (UND 3-0) | Later in the second, Blake took control of the puck and brought it into the RedHawks' zone before handing it off to Louis Jamernik V, who made a pass across the zone to Gaber. A quick flick from Gaber gave North Dakota its third goal of the game.
- 11:34 2nd (UND 4-0) | UND struck again just over a minute later. On a power-play opportunity, Gaber took a shot toward the Miami net, which was stopped just short. Senden hit it away to Blake, who snuck a shot past Logan Neaton to put the visitors up 4-0.
- 18:08 2nd (UND 5-0) | North Dakota closed out the period with another goal on the man advantage. Cooper Moore took the puck at the RedHawks' blue line, passing over to Ty Farmer, who then sent it to Owen McLaughlin. McLaughlin lined up a shot and fired into the net, putting the Fighting Hawks' lead at 5-0.
- 7:52 3rd (UND 6-0) | UND continued extending its lead into the third period. Farmer made a pass from North Dakota's blue line to Nick Portz, who flicked the puck to Ben Strinden in front of Miami's goal. Strinden made a shot to the back of the net, putting the score at 6-0.
- 8:25 3rd (UND 7-0) | Less than a minute later, Ethan Frisch took a shot that deflected off Ludvig Persson's stick, with the rebound picked up by Carson Albrecht. Dylan James received the pass from Albrecht and knocked a shot in to give UND a 7-0 lead.
- 19:11 3rd (UND 8-0) | In the final minute of the game, UND's power play capitalized once again. Senden brought the puck up to center ice, passing it to Frisch, who started a give-and-go with Gaber. Gaber took a shot that deflected off the skate of a Miami defender, but he was able to quickly take it back, once again passing between him and Frisch. Gaber received the puck a final time and completed a personal hat trick to close out the game.

- Neaton made his third start of the season in net, picking up 21 saves in two periods of action.
