Miami returns home for the first time in 2023 to battle North Dakota in a weekend series. The RedHawks come in at 7-15-2 (2-11-1 NCHC) after dropping a pair of games at Omaha to end a four-game trip. The Fighting Hawks are 10-11-4 (4-8-2 NCHC) after a split at home with Minnesota Duluth. UND is receiving votes in both major polls.
North Dakota leads the all-time series against Miami 23-8-4. The teams faced off for the first time in 1999 in Milwaukee and played a total of three times before the formation of the NCHC in 2013. In November, the RedHawks picked up their first win at UND since 2017 in a weekend split.
Matthew Barbolini (9-11-20) leads the RedHawks in both goals and assists this season. John Waldron has eight goals and Joe Cassetti has seven for Miami. Goaltender Ludvig Persson is 7-13-2 this year with a .890 save percentage and 3.60 GAA.
Friday's game will air on CBS Sports Network, with Alex Heinert (play-by-play), Dave Starman (analyst) and Shireen Saski (rinkside) on the call. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday night. Saturday's game starts at 7:05 p.m. and will be broadcast on NCHC.tv.
Radio coverage with Greg Waddell and Drew Davis is set for WKBV 1490 AM (Richmond, Ind.) both nights and WMOH 1450 AM The Ticket (Hamilton, Ohio) Saturday.
Head coach Chris Bergeron and freshman defenseman Michael Feenstra spoke with the media this week to preview the matchup against the Fighting Hawks.
