Miami University head women's basketball coach DeUnna Hendrix announced this afternoon the addition of Jessie Dai to her 2022 recruiting class.
Dai competed for Odessa College last season, averaging 11.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and shot 34 percent from behind the arc, earning WJCAC Honorable Mention honors in 2021-22. She posted a career-best 23 points versus Miami Dade College and two days later scored 21 at Dallas College-Cedar Valley.  Dai also scored 14 points against New Mexico Junior College, the eventual WJCAC Conference Champions. In that contest, she shot 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the arc, connecting on 4-of-5 triples.
Dai, a forward originally from DaQing, China, attended BellaVista High School. In 2015, she entered the Chinese National Youth Training Camp and trained with the Chinese National Team in 2018. She participated in the 2018 Chinese under-17 games, averaging 12.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and two steals per contest.
"With development, Jessie will be a matchup problem for opponents!," said Hendrix. "Her versatile skill set, at 6-foot-2, gives our team even more flexibility on both ends of the floor. She embodies a 'team first' mentality and will do all that it takes to be successful. Her commitment to work, loyalty to people, and will to win is evident. We just got better, in all ways, by adding Jessie to our family."
Dai plans to major in sports leadership and management at Miami.
