LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Miami third baseman
Karli Spaid was named a Third-Team All-America honoree by the National FastPitch Coaches Association on Wednesday evening. Spaid becomes Miami's first All-American in 48 years of Miami softball.

Spaid finished the season with a .413 batting average, 28 home runs, 70 RBI, a .931 slugging percentage and a .489 on-base percentage. She added 10 doubles, two triples and 27 walks, all while starting 58 contests for the RedHawks.

The first-team All-MAC and first-team NFCA All-Region award winner ranked in the top-10 nationally in home runs (28), home runs per game, RBI (70), runs scored (67), slugging percentage (.931) and total bases (176). She also set school records for runs scored, RBI and home runs. Her .413 batting average and 78 hits during the 2022 campaign rank third in Miami history for a single season.

The Chicago, Ill., native recorded hits in 45 of 58 games and had 24 multi-hit performances this past year. She also had six multi-home run games in 2022 and was twice named MAC Player of the Week.

With a season full of highlights, Spaid recorded a pair of home runs versus Ohio State (Feb. 27) and Texas (March 6). She went 3-for-4 with two home runs and a career-high seven RBI in a win over Toledo on April 5. Spaid also had a walk-off home run versus California on April 23 and went 3-for-3 with a pair of dingers versus Bowling Green in the MAC Championship Game.

After just two years with the RedHawks, Spaid is Miami's career leader in home runs (45) and batting average (.408). She ranks second with 119 RBI and third with 123 runs scored.

The NFCA All-America teams are voted on by the Association's All-America Committees. In Division I, the committee is comprised of one selected member head coach from each of the NFCA's 10 regions. All student-athletes who were nominated by a member head coach and voted to the first-, second or third-team All-Region teams were eligible for All-America consideration.
