Baseball Falls in Nuxhall Final

OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University baseball team dropped a 17-2 decision to the Xavier Musketeers in the Nuxhall Classic Tuesday night. The RedHawks' record slips to 11-16, while Xavier improves to 15-15.
 
Aaron Massie got his first career start, throwing three innings. William Escala and Zach MacDonald led the way at the plate with a pair of hits each.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the third, Escala led off with a triple, then scored on a sacrifice bunt by Blake Buzzeo.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, Brian Zapp walked and David Novak singled before both runners advanced on steals. Escala then drove in Zapp with an RBI single, cutting the Xavier lead to one.
  • The visitors put runs on the board in each of the last five innings, finishing the scoring with seven runs in the ninth.

            The RedHawks will host Eastern Michigan for a four-game series beginning Saturday, April 9. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 1 p.m.
