OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University softball team tied California 8-8 in eight innings in the teams' series finale Sunday afternoon. Both teams battled, trading the lead back and forth throughout the whole contest. A few late runs from Miami, including one in the seventh, locked the score at eight where it would stay for the remainder of the game. The RedHawks move to 28-13-1 on the season, while Cal is now 25-20-1.
How it Happened:
- Brianna Pratt got the start for Miami, allowing eight runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings while recording three strikeouts.
- Courtney Vierstra came in to relieve Pratt in the fifth inning. Vierstra gave up no runs through 3.2 innings in the circle.
- Karli Spaid went 3-for-5 from the plate with two RBI.
- Holly Blaska's two-run double and a Lily Wilmot RBI single kicked things off for the RedHawks in the bottom of the opening inning, giving Miami an early 3-0 lead.
- Cal was able to immediately answer back, tying the game at three in the top of the second.
- Chloe Parks' two-run shot in the bottom of the second swung the momentum in Miami's favor while also extending the RedHawks' lead to 5-3.
- After posting five runs through the fourth and fifth innings, Cal took an 8-5 lead and halted Miami's run.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Parks' single set up a Spaid two-run home run, bringing the RedHawks within just one run of Cal.
- A two-out RBI single from Adriana Barlow in the bottom of the seventh tied the score at eight runs and sent the game into extra innings.
- The game was called after eight innings due to Cal having to catch a flight, ending the game in an 8-8 tie.

- Barlow finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.
- Wilmot recorded a stolen base and an RBI.
