OXFORD, Ohio – Trailing 5-1, the Miami University softball team scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to surpass the Cal Bears on Saturday afternoon, 7-5. The win improves the RedHawks to 28-13 on the year.
How it Happened:
- Adriana Barlow put on an amazing performance at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with three RBI.
- Cal struck first, taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the third.
- Miami answered back immediately in the bottom of the inning courtesy of a Barlow home run to left field, cutting Cal's lead to two runs.
- Cal posted two runs in the top of the fifth, leaving the RedHawks four runs behind.
- Two back-to-back home runs from Maggie Murphy and Riley Coyne in the bottom of the seventh cut the lead to just two halfway through the inning.
- A Lily Wilmot single would set up a two-run home run from Barlow, her second of the day, tying the game at five in the bottom of the final inning.
- Karli Spaid's walk-off two-run home run capped a remarkable seventh inning for a RedHawk victory.
Notes:
- Spaid finished 2-for4 with two RBI.
- Barlow had a pair of home runs, her first multi home run game this season.
