OXFORD, Ohio — Eighteen home dates at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena highlight the 2022-23 Miami Hockey schedule, which head coach Chris Bergeron announced today. The RedHawks will open the season on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2 with a two-game home series against Ferris State.
Miami will play four series in October, with trips to UMass Lowell (Oct. 7-8) and Canisius (Oct. 21-22) lined up to follow the opening two-game set vs. Ferris State. The RedHawks return to Oxford to open National Collegiate Hockey Conference play by hosting recently-crowned national champion Denver on October 28 and 29.
In November, the Red and White will travel to Western Michigan Nov. 4-5, host Colorado College Nov. 11-12, and visit conference co-champion North Dakota Nov. 18-19. That sets up a highly-anticipated non-conference clash at Cady Arena with Michigan State on Nov. 25 and 26. The RedHawks will host the Spartans for the first time since the 2013 CCHA quarterfinals.
The RedHawks' final two series of 2022 will both take place in Oxford in December, with a home league series vs. St. Cloud State set for Dec. 9-10 and Niagara coming to town Dec. 30-31 in non-conference action.
Miami jumps back into its NCHC schedule in January with back-to-back visits to Denver (Jan. 13-14) and Omaha (Jan. 20-21) before returning to home ice to face off with North Dakota Jan. 27-28.
The final stretch of the schedule includes a series at St. Cloud State Feb. 3-4, a home matchup against Omaha Feb. 17-18, a trip to defending Frozen Faceoff champion Minnesota Duluth Feb. 24-25, and a home series against Western Michigan March 3-4 to conclude the regular season.
The best-of-three NCHC quarterfinals begin March 10 at campus sites, with the conference's 2023 Frozen Faceoff set for March 17-18 in St. Paul, Minn. NCAA Regionals are held March 23-26, followed by the Frozen Four in Tampa, Fla. on April 6-8.
Specific game times will be announced at a later date, but Friday night home games are generally set to start at 7:05 p.m., with puck drop for Saturday home games usually slated for 5:05 p.m. Start times for the season-opening series at Cady Arena have already been announced: Saturday, October 1 at 5:05 p.m. and Sunday, October 2 at 3:05 p.m.
Information on the promotional schedule (including fan favorites like Skate with the 'Hawks, postgame autograph sessions, and performances by Miami's world-renowned synchronized skating teams) will be released in the coming months.
