OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University baseball team dropped its series finale to Central Michigan Monday afternoon 13-1 in seven innings. The RedHawks fall to 7-11 (4-4 MAC), while CMU improves to 9-8 (5-1 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The RedHawks got on the board first in the opening inning. After JJ Woolwine was hit by a pitch, he advanced to third on a double by Nick Neibauer. Stephen Krause drove Woolwine in with an RBI groundout to put Miami up 1-0.
- CMU answered back with a pair of unearned runs in the fourth inning to go on top 2-1.
- The Chippewas scored seven times in the sixth inning, including a bases-loaded double, to make it 9-1.
- CMU finished the scoring with a grand slam in the top of the seventh.
MIAMI GAME NOTES
- William Escala and Nick Clark each had a stolen base for the RedHawks.
- Four Miami pitchers combined for nine strikeouts in the game.
- Miami played a Monday game for the first time since Feb. 25, 2019.
