OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami softball team defeated Louisville on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 6-4. Miami had a great day from the plate as eight different batters recorded a hit for the RedHawks. Louisville jumped out to an early lead, but Miami was able to string together good innings at the plate and in the field to help them outlast the Cardinals through the end of the contest.
How it Happened:
- Brianna Pratt started in the circle for the RedHawks, pitching 4.2 innings and striking out three while allowing four runs.
- Courtney Vierstra came into relieve Pratt mid-way through the top of the fifth. Vierstra recorded her first save of the season, striking out two batters and only allowing one hit through 2.1 innings.
- Kate Kobayashi put on a stellar performance from the plate going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
- The RedHawks fell behind 1-0 in the top of the second inning, but quickly answered in the bottom of the inning with five runs that included a three-run homerun from Kobayashi.
- Miami added another run in the bottom of the fourth behind a Jenna Golembiewski homerun, her first as a RedHawk, bringing Miami's lead to 6-1.
- Louisville battled back in the top of the fifth adding three runs to their total, cutting the RedHawks lead down to two.
- Miami held Louisville scoreless through the last two innings, ending the game in a 6-4 victory.
Notes:
- Karli Spaid's hitting streak extends to ten games after going 1-for-2 from the plate.
- Lily Wilmot went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Miami travels to Tuscaloosa for a weekend of games against Texas and Alabama. Opening pitch on Saturday against Texas is slated for 12 p.m.
