Miami Bounces Back with 75-61 Win at CMU

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Taking control early, the Miami University men's basketball team never trailed as the RedHawks (13-17; 7-12 Mid-American Conference) picked up an important MAC win at Central Michigan University (7-21; 6-11 MAC) on Tuesday night in McGuirk Arena, 75-61. Kamari Williams erupted for a career-high 21 points to lead all scorers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Dae Dae Grant scored five points and Williams added three to fuel an 8-0 Miami run that lifted the RedHawks to a 16-6 advantage by the 13:03 mark.
- Another 8-0 run with three more points from Williams and three from Javin Etzler extended the RedHawk lead to 24-10 with just over 10 minutes to go in the opening half.
- A late 11-2 flurry sparked by a pair of Isaiah Coleman-Lands treys lifted Miami to a 43-20 lead with 50 seconds to go, its largest lead of the game.
- CMU scored the final bucket of the half as Miami carried a 20-point advantage into the intermission, 43-23.
- The Chippewas chiseled away at the RedHawk lead and closed the gap to 10 midway through the second half, 52-42.
- Two more Williams triples along with four points from Precious Ayah during a 14-3 run helped extend the MU lead to 66-45 with 5:10 to go.
- The RedHawks did not look back as they rolled to the 14-point win.
NOTES:
- It was the first 20-point scoring game for Williams, who went 8-of-12 from the floor and 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
- Grant was the other RedHawk in double figures, chipping in 19 points, and led MU with six assists.
- Williams and Grant each had 10 points at the half as Miami shot 50.0 percent from the floor and knocked down six triples in the opening half.
- Coleman-Lands led the RedHawks with seven rebounds and added four assists.
