Miami Downs EMU; Headed to MAC Tourney!

OXFORD, Ohio—An inspired first half fueled the Miami University men's basketball team (14-17; 8-12 Mid-American Conference) in a 76-63 win against Eastern Michigan University (10-21; 5-15 MAC) on Friday night at Millett Hall in the regular-season finale.
The Senior Night win punched the RedHawks' ticket to Cleveland for the eight-team MAC Tournament. Miami will be the No. 7 seed and will face No. 2 Kent State in the third game of Thursday's quarterfinal round at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami got off to a strong start and used a 21-0 run over a five-minute stretch to charge out to a 33-11 lead by the 9:57 mark.
- Dalonte Brown and Dae Dae Grant accounted for four of Miami's five triples during the surge, knocking down two apiece.
- The RedHawks led by as many as 22 late in the half, the last coming at 46-24 off a Grant bucket at the 2:20 mark, and carried a 46-29 advantage into the locker room.
- The Eagles persisted in the second half and whittled the RedHawk lead to five points with 2:16 to play, 67-62.
- Brown sunk a big 3-pointer with just under two minutes to play to ignite a 9-1 flurry to close out the game for the RedHawks in the 76-63 win.
NOTES:
- Miami shot a sizzling 63.3 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from 3-point range in the opening half, knocking down eight triples.
- The RedHawks forced 19 EMU turnovers, 11 coming in the first half, and turning those into 24 points with 22 points off turnovers in the opening 20 minutes.
- Grant led Miami with 15 points in the opening half, while Brown added 10 points.
- Grant finished with 19 points to lead all scorers, while Brown followed with 15 points and Kamari Williams and Precious Ayah each tallied 12.
- Miami handed out 20 assists, its most in MAC play this season, with Mekhi Lairy tallying six and Grant and Isaiah Coleman-Lands dishing out four apiece.
- Williams added a career-high three blocked shots.
- Miami honored its six seniors: Precious Ayah, James Beck, Dalonte Brown, Isaiah Coleman-Lands, Mekhi Lairy and Elijah McNamara prior to the game.
