OXFORD, Ohio— Peyton Scott scored a game-high 25 points, but first-place Toledo defeated the Miami women's basketball team 86-63 at Millett Hall Wednesday.
Ivy Wolf added 14 points for the RedHawks (7-14, 3-9 MAC), while Quinesha Lockett led the Rockets (18-4, 12-1 MAC) with 20 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edyn Battle hit a pair of early three-pointers to spark Miami in a back-and-forth first period, but Toledo finished the quarter in the midst of a 10-0 run and holding a 21-14 advantage on the scoreboard.
- The Rockets used a trio of three-point plays late in the second quarter to take their largest lead of the half at 45-24 going into the locker room.
- The teams played an even third quarter, with UT maintaining its 21-point lead after 30 minutes at 66-45.
- Scott scored 10 of her 25 points in the fourth quarter, but Miami was unable to trim the deficit below 18 points. The RedHawks were outscored by a narrow 41-39 margin in the second half.
NOTES
- Scott moved into 12th place on the all-time Miami scoring list with 1,294 points, passing Jennifer Wenclewicz (1,280 career points) and Colleen Day (1,269).
- Scott scored 20 or more points for the 23rd time in her career.
