RedHawks Finish Seventh at the MAC Indoor Championship

KENT, Ohio— The RedHawks had a strong showing on the track at Kent State, as the Miami women's track and field team finished seventh at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The RedHawks start their outdoor season with the Blizzard Buster Meet on home turf on Friday, March 18.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lotti Roemer was Miami's biggest point-getter as she took first place in the women's mile. Roemer finished in 4:51.41 for the title. Teammates Emily Akin (4:54.98, 5th) and Jenna Sayle (5:01.22, 9th) were close behind.
- Carmen Riano had another impressive showing on the track finishing fourth in the 3000-meter race with a time of 9:43.08. Katie Vitou was right behind capturing fifth place in 9:43.74.
- On the field, Elise Walker competed in the high jump, finishing in eighth with a jump of 1.66m. Grace Rigel was the top RedHawk in the shot put, clearing a distance of 13.59m to finish in 13th.
- Sarah Bruns had a great day as she took third in the pentathlon. Bruns turned it on for the final two, taking second in in the shot put with a throw of 12.08m. She closed out the event with a 2:22.24 in the 800m, taking second in the event.
- Roemer was named first-team All-MAC in the mile. The DMR team of Emily Akin, Faith Baxter, McKenna Fry, and Annie Christie earned second-team All-MAC, and Riano (5000m) picked up second-team honors as well.
