
Outdoor Track Starts Season Strong with Blizzard Buster

OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University outdoor track and field team had a strong start to the outdoor season on Friday afternoon at the Blizzard Buster meet.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Lucca Agate made her season debut for the RedHawks, capturing second in the 100-meter (12.42) and 200-meter (25.22) events. The distance squad had top finishes in the 1500-meter and 5000-meter races. Emily Akin captured first in the 1500-meter with a time of 4:31.21. In the 5000-meter race, Carmen Riano placed first (16:18.39) and Ava Nuttall placed second (16:55.40). In the field, Taylor Manley had a great day, placing first in the triple jump (11.81m) and third in the long jump (5.52m).
The men had a number of top finishes on the day as well. In the 800-meter race, Anthony Vlatko captured first with a time of 1:52.79. Andrew Schroff finished first in the 1500-meter race with a time of 3:51.86. Alex Tam placed first in the 3000-meter race with a time of 8:29.58. In the 5000-meter race, Obsaa Feda captured first (14:38.43) and Mhalicki Bronson placed second (14:47.96). Ryan Smith had a great day in the field, finishing first in the shot put (16.82m) and discus (53.56m), third in the hammer (56.50m), and second in the Javelin (56.61m).

The RedHawks will continue their outdoor season on the road, with a select group of athletes traveling to Cincinnati, Ohio for the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational. Day one of the multi-day event is scheduled for Friday, April 1.
