TOLEDO, Ohio—Despite a solid first-half effort, the Miami University men's basketball team (12-17; 6-12 Mid-American Conference) dropped an 88-73 decision at the University of Toledo (23-6; 15-3 MAC) on Saturday afternoon at Savage Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Dalonte Brown knocked down a triple at the 17:18 mark as Miami took its first lead of the game, 7-6.
- The RedHawks used a 13-4 flurry that included treys from Javin Etzler, Kamari Williams and Mekhi Lairy to extend its lead to double figures with 5:37 to go in the opening half, 33-22.
- Toledo retaliated with a 15-3 run to take its first lead since the opening minutes, posting a 37-36 advantage with 1:25 to go in the half.
- Williams came back with a triple to put Miami back on top, but the Rockets followed with a trey of their own with 33 seconds remaining in the first half to carry a 40-39 edge into the intermission.
- The Rockets opened the second half on a 10-2 run to extend its lead to 50-41 by the 17:28 mark and never looked back.
NOTES:
- Grant notched his 11th 20-point scoring effort of the season with a game-high-tying 24 points. He added seven assists and six rebounds.
- Two other RedHawks scored in double figures with Isaiah Coleman-Lands amassing 15 points, going 5-for-5 from 3-point range and tying his career high for 3-point field goals. Williams finished with 10 points for Miami.
- Dalonte Brown led the RedHawks with eight rebounds.
- The RedHawks drained 14 triples, the third most it has recorded in a game this season and the 11th time Miami has been in double figures for 3-pointers in a game in 2021-22.

Miami travels to Central Michigan to start the final week of the regular season with a 7 p.m. game on Tuesday, March 1. It is the second time in six days the RedHawks and Chippewas will meet.
