OXFORD, Ohio— The Miami women's basketball team dropped a 61-52 decision to Kent State Wednesday at Millett Hall.
Peyton Scott led the RedHawks (8-18, 4-13 MAC) with 24 points, while
Edyn Battle added 11 points with a career-high four steals. Lindsey Thall had 18 points for Kent State (17-9, 9-8 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kent State took an early 11-2 lead, but the RedHawks rallied to pull within 14-9 at the end of the first quarter on a Katey Richason layup.
- Miami held KSU to 32% shooting in the first half, but the visitors gradually pulled away to take a 30-18 advantage into the locker room.
- Scott hit a pair of three-pointers in the third quarter to try and keep Miami close, but the Golden Flashes took their largest lead at 49-28 to end the period.
- The RedHawks started the fourth quarter on a 9-0 run and outscored KSU 24-12 down the stretch, but Miami's comeback bid ran out of time.
NOTES
- Maddi Cluse matched her career high with four assists.
- The RedHawks had 12 steals after halftime, led by Scott's game-high five.
- Miami outscored the visitors 21-1 in fast break points.
- Scott recorded her 12th 20-point game of the season..
