MARTIN, Tenn. — The Miami University baseball team's bats stayed hot during a 10-5 win at UT Martin Saturday afternoon.
Cole Andrews and
Dalton Back led the way, each belting a three-run homer for the RedHawks (2-0).
Nick DeMonica picked up his first win in a Miami uniform, throwing 4.1 no-hit innings out of the bullpen.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the top of the second inning, Benji Brokemond reached on a one-out double to left field. In the following at-bat, Stephen Krause doubled to left field, scoring Brokemond and putting the RedHawks up 1-0.
- In the top of the fifth, trailing 5-1, Andrews and William Escala reached on walks, setting the 'Hawks up with runners on first and second. Two at-bats later, Back drove a home run to left field, cutting the deficit to just one.
- In the top of the seventh, Brokemond led off with a walk. Following a walk to Nick Neibauer, Brokemond stole third, setting the RedHawks up with runners on first and third. Brian Zapp then executed a bunt single, scoring Brokemond. After an Escala bunt single loaded the bases, Neibauer scored on a wild pitch, and Andrews finished his at-bat with his second homer of the series, putting the RedHawks up 9-5.
- In the top of the ninth, leading 9-5, Neibauer led off with a walk. Cristian Tejada then came in to pinch-run. A pair of bunt singles moved Tejada around the bases, and he eventually scored on a wild pitch to give Miami its final run.
NOTES:
- Andrews has hit home runs in back-to-back games; he reached base four times today, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
- Kenten Egbert got the start and struck out six batters in 4.2 innings pitched; Demonica notched five strikeouts in relief.
- Brokemond went 2-for-3 while scoring two runs and two stolen bases.
- Zapp went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.
- Escala went 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
- Neibauer reached base three times, scoring once.

The RedHawks will look to complete the sweep at UT Martin, with first pitch being set for 2 p.m. Sunday.
