Ivy Wolf added 16 as the Miami University women's basketball team nearly erased a 20-point second-half deficit versus Eastern Michigan. Miami (8-16, 4-11 MAC) trailed 55-35 with 1:59 to play in the third and climbed to within 63-61 with 3:38 to go, but came up short versus the Eagles (6-16, 3-12 MAC) in a 70-61 loss.
How it Happened:
- After Miami scored the opening bucket of the contest, EMU answered with a 12-0 run midway through the first quarter. The Eagles led 19-12 after 10 minutes of action.
- After a pair of Wolf free throws to begin the second, the Eagles scored the game's next 13 points to claim a 32-14 advantage with 4:10 left in the half. Miami responded with a 7-0 run to trim the deficit, 32-21. EMU led 38-27 at the half.
- Miami scored the first five points of the third and trailed by just a six-point margin, before EMU's 13-3 run forced DeUnna Hendrix to call timeout with the Eagles up 51-35. EMU pushed its lead to 55-35 with 1:59 to play in the third. Miami closed the quarter on an 8-2 run and trailed by 14 entering the fourth.
- A Vannessa Garrelts triple to open the fourth and a three-pointer from Wolf a few minutes later made it an eight-point deficit. Wolf's layup with 4:14 to play made it 63-57 and Edyn Battle stole the ensuing inbounds pass and was fouled. The sophomore connected on 1-of-2 from the line to make it a five-point game.
- Moments later, Wolf connected from deep once again as the RedHawks trailed 63-61 with 3:38 to play, but could get no closer.
