Miami Hockey returns home this weekend for a non-conference series against No. 16/16 Michigan State. The RedHawks come in at 5-7-2 (1-6-1 NCHC) after earning a split at then-No. 19 North Dakota last weekend (7-1 loss followed by a 4-3 win). The Spartans are 9-4-1 (5-2-1 Big Ten) after a 4-3 loss and 7-3 win at then-No. 6 Penn State.
Both games in Oxford will be streamed on NCHC.tv, with puck drop set for 7:05 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25 and 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26. Friday's game will air on WKBV 1490 AM (Richmond, Ind.), while Saturday's game will be broadcast on WMOH 1450 AM The Ticket (Hamilton, Ohio). Drew Davis and Luke West Poley will have the call both nights.
The Spartans took two games from Miami last October in East Lansing (3-1 and 2-1), marking the first matchups between the former CCHA rivals since 2013. MSU leads the all-time series 71-34-6, but Miami is 8-3-1 in the past 12 meetings.
Matthew Barbolini (5-8-13) leads the RedHawks in scoring, while
Joe Cassetti (5-3-8) shares the team lead in goals. Goaltender
Ludvig Persson is 5-7-2 between the pipes with a .909 save percentage and 2.91 GAA. Five different Miami freshmen have lit the lamp already this year, as the RedHawks' first-year players have combined to make 92 appearances and produce 22 points through the first 14 games of the season.
Head coach
Chris Bergeron and freshman forward
