RedHawks Fall 76-51 at Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn.— The Miami University women's basketball team dropped a 76-51 decision at Memphis Wednesday night. Maddi Cluse posted her second consecutive double-double for the RedHawks (1-2), putting up a game-high 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Sierra Morrow added 14 points. Madison Griggs led the Tigers (2-1) with 18 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cluse got off to a quick start, making her first four field goals to stake the RedHawks to a 9-6 lead midway through the opening period. Memphis responded with an 11-2 run to claim a 17-11 advantage after 10 minutes.
  • The Tigers took their first double-digit lead at 23-13, but Miami closed within 28-22 after a three-point play from Morrow. Memphis tallied the next five points and took a 33-24 lead into the locker room.
  • Cluse added eight points in the third quarter, including a layup that cut the margin to 36-28, but the home team went on a 10-2 run to push the lead into double digits for good.
  • A Clare Chambers three-pointer trimmed the deficit to 54-43 with 7:46 to play, but that was as close as the RedHawks would get down the stretch. Memphis scored a dozen straight points late to take its largest lead in the final minute of the game.
