OXFORD, Ohio— The RedHawks fell in a three-set match Saturday evening against Eastern Michigan, 22-25, 17-25, 16-25.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami scored the first four points of the match. Three kills from Abby Stratford and a service ace from Gentry Warrick sparked the 4-0 run. The Eagles attempted to close the gap, but Miami held strong. A kill from Hayden Hicks and yet another service ace from Warrick extended the lead to 12-7. Eastern Michigan stayed within reach, tying the game at 17-17. The Eagles went on to close the set with a 25-22 win.
- Eastern Michigan got off to a hot start in the beginning of the second, pulling ahead 12-2. The Eagles were able to carry this momentum forward, taking a 20-8 advantage as the end of the set approached. Miami stayed resilient, outscoring the Eagles 8-2 and bringing the score to 22-16. In the end, it was too much for Miami to overcome. The Eagles took the set 25-17.
- The score was 4-3 in favor of Eastern Michigan as the third set began. The Eagles were then able to go on a 7-1 run and extend the lead to 11-4. Miami made a final push, coming within five at 17-12. Stratford recorded two kills and a service ace to energize the offense. Eastern Michigan ultimately finished the set with a 25-16 win.
NOTES:
- Stratford recorded a team-high 11.5 points.
