COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Miami goaltender Ludvig Persson was named NCHC Goaltender of the Week for a second consecutive week, the conference announced today.
Persson continued his strong start to the season in last weekend's series at No. 15 UMass Lowell, going 1-1 between the pipes. In Miami's 3-1 win on Friday night, Persson's shutout bid Friday night was spoiled in the final minute by an extra-attacker goal. He made at least 35 saves in both games against UML and posted a .936 save percentage for the weekend after a .942 opening series vs. Ferris State. Persson and the Miami defense held the River Hawks to a single power play goal in eight opportunities over the weekend.
Persson, a junior Marketing major in the Farmer School of Business from Hindas, Sweden, has been named the league's Goaltender of the Week six times in his career, including three straight selections in his first season with the Red and White.
The RedHawks are off this weekend and return to action for a two-game non-conference series at Canisius beginning Friday, Oct. 21.
