YPSILANTI, Mich.—Despite outscoring the Eagles 47-30 in the second half, the Miami University men's basketball team could not recover from a hefty early second-half deficit as the RedHawks (9-10; 3-5 Mid-American Conference) fell at Eastern Michigan University (8-11; 3-5 MAC) on Saturday afternoon at the Gervin GameAbove Center, 85-75.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead off jumpers from Precious Ayah and Dae Dae Grant.
- Eastern Michigan put together an 18-0 run to take a 34-15 lead by the 7:13 mark in the first half. A Mekhi Lairy triple at 6:16 gave Miami its first points in more than six minutes.
- The Eagles extended their lead to 63-30 with 15:26 to play in the second half.
- Miami clawed its way back over the remainder of the second half but could get no closer than 10 in the closing seconds off an Isaiah Coleman-Lands three-point play to make the final margin 85-75.
NOTES:
- Coleman-Lands finished with a career-high 20 points, knocking down a career-high-tying five triples and shooting 50% from both the field and 3-point range. He led four RedHawks in double figures.
- Grant scored 13 points and team-highs of eight assists and seven rebounds. This is the third time this season Grant has amassed a career-high of eight assists.
- Kamari Williams tallied 11 points, his third double-figure scoring effort of the season, while Marr Avance tied a career-high with 10 points.
- Curtis Harrison IV made the first start of his career in place of the injured Dalonte Brown. He scored a career-high 10 points.
