RedHawks Open MAC Play at Buffalo This Weekend

THIS WEEKEND: Miami opens Mid-American Conference play when it travels to the University at Buffalo for a pair of weekend matches. The RedHawks will battle the Bulls at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24 before rounding out the two-match series at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25. Both matches will be streamed on the Bulls' YouTube Channel.
ABOUT BUFFALO & THE SERIES WITH THE BULLS: Buffalo enters the weekend with a 7-5 record in non-conference action and is coming off a 2-1 weekend at the Quest for the Crown tournament at Old Dominion. This is the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams. Miami is 34-10 when facing the Bulls and has won two straight against Buffalo. The teams opened the season 2020-21 spring season against each other in Oxford Jan. 22-21 with Miami notching a pair of 3-0 wins. The last time the teams met in Buffalo, the Bulls collected a 3-2 win on Nov. 9, 2019. Miami's last win in Buffalo was on Sept. 22, 2018, 3-0.
TELEVISION: Both weekend matches at Buffalo will be streamed on the Bulls' YouTube Channel.

HARPER CLOSING IN ON 1,000 DIGS: With 955 career digs, senior Gaby Harper is closing in on becoming the 18th player in program history to reach 1,000 career digs and needs just 45 more to achieve the feat. Harper also owns 828 career kills entering the weekend.

McCRARY AND CIRIGLIANO NAMED TO MIAMI/BEST WESTERN ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM: Sophomore Maggie McCrary and freshman Brooke Cirigliano were named to the Miami/Best Western All-Tournament team. This was the first all-tournament team honor for either RedHawk.Â
RIEMERSMA AND NOMANSON NAMED TO DUKE ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM: Senior Sophie Riemersma and sophomore Taylor Nomanson were named to the Duke Invitational All-Tournament Team. This was the second-straight all-tournament team honor for Riemersma and the first of her career for Nomanson.
ECLIPSING 750 CAREER WINS: With a 3-0 win versus Buffalo on Jan. 22, 2021, Miami head coach Carolyn Condit posted her 750th career win. Condit owns a 764-574 career record entering her 42nd season as a head coach. Condit's 764 total victories are tied for eighth among active NCAA Division I coaches, and tied for 24th all-time. Owning more victories than any coach in the history of the Miami Athletic Department, Condit holds a 665-496 record and is in her 38th season in charge of the Red and White. Condit is the only volleyball coach in the history of the Mid-American Conference to win over 300 league matches, holding a conference mark of 366-216.

- Sophomore Taylor Nomanson ranks third among MAC leaders in digs (4.36 per set), while the RedHawks rank fourth among MAC leaders in digs (15.45) as a team. Nomanson also ranks sixth among MAC leaders in service aces (0.32). She has served up seven this season.
- Twice this season junior Jacquelyn Krumnauer has served up three aces in a match, including a three-ace outing against Cincinnati on Saturday.
- Senior Gaby Harper has played in 91 career matches and is poised to eclipse the 100-match mark in the last third of the season.
- Redshirt sophomore Karolina Kugiel saw the first action of her Miami career last weekend, playing in two sets at Xavier on Friday and all four sets against Cincinnati on Saturday.
- Miami boasts seven newcomers on its 2021 roster, which comprises 41% of the Miami roster.
