OXFORD, Ohio – Senior
Courtney Vierstra took a perfect game into the seventh inning as the Miami University softball team downed the University at Buffalo 3-0 on Friday afternoon at the Softball Complex. The win, Miami's 17
th in a row, moves the RedHawks to 23-6 overall and 13-0 in Mid-American Conference play. Buffalo drops to 9-21 overall, 7-8 in MAC play.
How it Happened:
- Vierstra continued her dominance inside the circle. After throwing a perfect game last Sunday, the senior was perfect again through six innings this afternoon before a Buffalo single in the top of the seventh broke up the perfect game. Vierstra finished the contest with a career-high 17 strikeouts.
- Allie Cummins gave Miami an early 1-0 lead with a single to right field as Karli Spaid came around to score in the bottom of the first.
- A two-run blast from Adriana Barlow in the fourth spotted the Red and White a 3-0 advantage and the game's final score.
