OXFORD, Ohio—Precious Ayah (Bayelsa State, Nigeria/Greenforest [Ga.]) has announced that he will return to the Miami University men's basketball program for the 2021-22 season with his extra year of eligibility.
Ayah, a four-year letterwinner for the RedHawks, has played in 93 career games and is on pace to break onto Miami's career games played top 10 list in 2021-22. He earned Academic All-MAC honors during the 2020-21 season.
"I have had an incredible journey here at Miami," said Ayah. "The guys here have become family, and our bond has only gotten stronger over the years. It only feels right to play the game I love with the guys I call my brothers one more time! I am excited to be returning for my final year of eligibility."
"We are excited about Precious' decision to use his final year of eligibility as a RedHawk," said head coach Jack Owens. "His leadership and work ethic are a staple in the locker room. He is an everyday guy who has fought through a lot of adversity to get to this point in his career."
Ayah has continued to increase his production with each season. He has shot better than 50.0 percent from the field for the campaign for the last three seasons and shot 50.0 percent or better in 12 contests last season. Ayah played in all 23 games during the 2020-21 season, making 11 starts, including starting the last six games of the season.
In 2020-21, Ayah helped a Miami team that recorded its first winning season since 2009 and notched a Ken Pom rating of 157, which was the RedHawks' highest since 2010. He helped the RedHawks earn a berth in the eight-team Mid-American Conference Tournament as Miami advanced to the quarterfinal round for the fourth time in the last six years, including three of the last four MAC Tournaments.
