RedHawks Finish Season With 3-2 Loss to Akron

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision on Sunday afternoon to the Akron Zips. Miami finishes the season at 4-4 overall, while the Zips improve to 3-5-1.

How it Happened:
- Akron scored 11 minutes into the contest to take a 1-0 lead.
- Miami knotted the score at 1-1 after Kristina DeMarco found Desiree Grubbs open for a look. Grubbs one-timed the pass and hit the upper left corner of the net to get Miami on the board.
- Akron scored twice in the first 16 minutes of the second half to take a 3-1 advantage as both teams battled windy and wet conditions throughout the afternoon.
- Jaimie Tottleben rang a shot of the left post with 13 minutes remaining. It was one of two posts Tottleben hit during the day, nearly scoring early in the first half as well.
- A goal from Soph Spinell with four minutes to play cut the gap to 3-2 but Miami could get no closer.
