RALEIGH, N.C. — The Miami University outdoor track and field squad put up a strong showing on the final day of North Carolina State's Raleigh Relays on Saturday, contributing great results, including a meet record performance from Finley Mclear.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mclear, running in the 800 meters, placed first in the event with a time of 1:47.43. In a field of 65 runners, this was enough to give Mclear a new meet record for the Raleigh Relays, as well as the new Mid-American top time in the event. Sean Torpy (7th, 1:49.26) and Andrew Schroff (8th, 1:49.27) also had strong times in the same event, finishing among the top-10 in a stacked field.
- Marta Cepeda Pérez was the top finisher for the 'Hawks in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 13th with a time of 1:03.16. Her time is good enough for second in the MAC. Olivia Bechtel continued her success from yesterday, finishing eighth in the 200-meter event, with a time of 23.88, the new best time in the MAC.
- Over on the field, Ryan Smith placed 17th in the hammer throw, with a 56.35 meter throw. Sydney Jefferson had success on the women's side of the same event, finishing in 15th with a 51.21 meter toss. Addison Hoover was right behind Jefferson, with a 50.12 meter throw for 17th place.
- To close the day for the RedHawks, Carmen Riano was the top Miami finisher in the 3000-meter steeplechase event, finishing in 15th with a time of 10:27.06 in the event. Katie Vitou was right behind her, finishing in 22nd with a time of 10:46.01.
