OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University softball team pounded out 11 hits, while senior Courtney Vierstra threw four shutout innings as the RedHawks downed the Western Michigan Broncos 15-0 in five innings on Friday afternoon at the Miami Softball Complex.
 
How it Happened:

• Vierstra was nearly perfect all afternoon, allowing just one hit in four shutout innings, while striking out 11-of-12 Bronco hitters.
• Miami plated four in the bottom of the second to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Lilly Wilmot picked up the first RBI of the game, bringing home Jada Dotson. Holly Blaska then drove a shot over the head of the left fielder to score two and Karlee Juarez singled through the right side to also pick on an RBI.
• In the third, Blaska picked up her third RBI of the game as Miami held a 5-0 advantage.
• Miami scored 10 times in the fourth as it claimed a 15-0 lead. Adriana Barlow had two doubles in the inning, bringing home four RedHawks. Julia Kennedy, Blaska, Karli Spaid, Zoe Bishop and Sidney Jones also picked up at least one RBI in the fourth.
