MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Miami University baseball team wrapped up its three-game series with the University of Memphis Tigers. The RedHawks (7-7) fell 4-2 to the Tigers (6-7) as Memphis took the Sunday victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the bottom of the fourth, the Tigers scored twice, taking a 2-0 lead.
- In the top of the fifth, Brian Zapp hit a solo shot to left field, cutting the RedHawk deficit in half to make it 2-1.
- In the bottom of the sixth, the Tigers homered to go back up by two runs. They also scored in the bottom of the seventh to take a 4-1 lead.
- Nate Stone doubled in the ninth inning, eventually scoring on a groundout to give the RedHawks a scoring play to end the game.
GAME NOTES:
- Will Vogelgesang was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, continuing his strong weekend.
- Zapp went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, cutting the Tiger lead in half in the fifth inning.
- Tyler Bosma pitched five innings, striking out seven while allowing just two runs.
- Stone was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk while scoring the team's second run.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The RedHawks have their home opener on March 19 at 5 p.m., facing off against the University of Toledo. This will also be the RedHawks' first MAC game of the season.
