RedHawks Split Saturday Action

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Miami University softball team split a pair of games on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 9-1 decision to No. 19 Georgia and picking up a 6-4 come-from-behind victory over Georgia State. The RedHawks are now 4-4 on the young season.
 
How it Happened (Game One) – vs. Georgia:
  • Miami got on the board first with the help from a Kaylee Juarez single to plate Lily Wilmot in the top of the second.
  • Georgia scored five in the second, three more in the fourth and one in the fifth to claim a 9-1 victory.
 
How it Happened (Game Two) vs. Georgia State:
  • Georgia State hit a two-run homer in the first to take a 2-0 lead, but Miami responded in the second as Allie Cummins blasted a solo shot to straight away center to cut the deficit to 2-1.
  • GSU added two run in the fourth to take a 4-1 advantage.
  • After Wilmot singled up the middle and Cummins drew a walk, Adriana Barlow smashed a three-run bomb over the left field wall to knot the game at 4-4 in the top of the sixth.
  • Juarez and Wilmot each picked up an RBI in the top of the seventh to complete the comeback.
  • Brianna Pratt pitched the final four innings, allowing three hits, to pick up the win.
 
Up Next:
Miami finishes off the trip down south with a Sunday afternoon contest with Kennesaw State. Opening pitch is set for 11 a.m.
