OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University women's basketball team dropped an 84-63 decision on Wednesday evening to the Akron Zips. The loss drops the RedHawks to 3-18 overall and 2-15 in Mid-American Conference play. Akron improves to 6-12, 3-12 MAC.
Sophomore
Peyton Scott led all scorers with 27 points while adding seven rebounds, four steals and four assists. Senior
Kelly McLaughlin poured in 12 points and nine rebounds.
How it Happened:
- Miami went 9-of-10 from the free throw line in the first quarter to lead the Zips 17-15 after 10 minutes of action.
- Akron closed the second quarter on a 16-3 run as the RedHawks battled foul trouble for most of the quarter. The Zips led 41-28 at the half.
- Miami's offense could find little rhythm and struggled shooting the ball all evening as Akron led 65-42 after three quarters of play. Akron finished the contest with an 84-63 victory.
Game Notes:
- Kelly McLaughlin finished the game with 12 points and nine rebounds, one rebound shy of her second straight double-double.
