Baseball Starts Season 3-0 with Victory Over Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Miami University baseball team started the 2021 season with a 3-0 record after defeating Jacksonville University by a 5-2 score in Florida on Sunday afternoon. 

How it Happened:

  • After Jacksonville scored first, Miami quickly tied it up in the second inning. Nate Stone scored on a passed ball to knot the game at one early.
  • Stephen Krause hit a single to right field in the fourth inning, and Stone came around to score to move the score in Miami's favor.
  • After the Dolphins tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth, Will Vogelgesang's double plated Cristian Tejada for the first of three runs in the seventh for the Red and White.
  • Tyler Bosma threw 4.2 innings and allowed two runs, while Jay Wilson came on in relief and threw 4.1 scoreless innings to go along with five strikeouts to pick up the win.

Up Next:

Miami continues their season on the road as they take on the Kentucky Wildcats for a single game. The game is scheduled for February 23, with the first pitch set for a 4 p.m. start.
