
Baseball Falls at Kentucky, 5-1

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Miami University baseball team picked up its first loss of the 2021 season on the road, falling to the University of Kentucky by a 5-1 score on Tuesday evening. With the loss, the RedHawks are now 3-1 on the season, and Kentucky collected their first win on the season to move to 1-0.
How it Happened:
- After Kentucky scored the first five runs of the game, Miami was able to get on the board in the fifth. Brian Zapp singled the ball to the right side for an RBI to score Tyler Wardwell.
- Lawson Blackmore was given the start on the mound for Miami, and the RedHawks saw action from a multitude of pitchers on the evening. Michael Spinozzi, Kenten Egbert, Logan Schmitt, and Zach Maxey all saw action, with the latter two combining for three scoreless innings
Up Next:
Miami continues their season on the road as they return to Florida for a four-game series at Florida International University. The first game is scheduled for February 26, with the first pitch scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
