Softball Announces 2022 Schedule

Coming off a historic season where the Miami University softball team was 46-10, Mid-American Conference Champions, and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, Head Coach Kirin Kumar has announced its 2022 schedule.  Arguably the most challenging schedule in program history, the RedHawks play nine games versus teams that made the NCAA Tournament, 15 power five games, two of which played in the College World Series and four versus Super Regional teams.

"I'm looking forward to building upon the season these young ladies had last year," said Kumar. "They are up for the challenge to play some of the best teams in the country.  The team is ready for anything I throw at them, including this schedule. They are eager to defend their MAC Championship and go beyond last season."

Miami opens the season on Feb. 18-20 in the Roar City Invite at Tennessee State where they will play the host, Bradley, and IUPUI. They close out the month of February in Columbia, S.C. with contests versus Troy (Feb. 25), host South Carolina (Feb. 25), Virginia Tech (Feb. 26) and in-state rival Ohio State (Feb. 27).

The RedHawks head to Rhodes Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on March 5-6 to take on perennial powers Alabama and Texas. Next, Miami competes in a three-game series at Illinois (March 12-13) and in Miami's home opener, they play host to SEC contender Kentucky (March 16).  MAC play starts March 18-19 with Miami hosting Kent State. Wrapping up the rest of March are trips to defending Big Ten Champions Michigan (March 23) and conference foe Northern Illinois (March 25-26) before returning home on March 29 versus IUPUI.

Miami plays five non-conference games the last two months of the season: at Butler (April 13), at home verses PAC 12s California (April 22-24) and at Eastern Kentucky (April 27).

Miami hosts a series of conference games verses Ohio (April 1-2), Western Michigan (April 9-10), Bowling Green (April 19-20) and Ball State (May 3-4) during the April/May portion of its schedule. Final conference road games include trips to Toledo (April 5-6), Buffalo (April 15-16), Akron (April 29-30) and Central Michigan (May 7-8).

The MAC Tournament takes place May 12-14 with regular season champion hosting. NCAA Regionals take place on May 19-22, the NCAA Super Regionals on May 27-29, and finally The College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla. from June 2-8.
