OXFORD, Ohio— Isaiah Coleman-Lands scored 12 of his season-high 14 points in the first half to lead four Miami players in double figures as the RedHawks beat Spalding 80-56 Tuesday afternoon in Millett Hall.
Precious Ayah added 14 points and
Mekhi Lairy had 12 for Miami (6-5), which never trailed in the game.
Dae Dae Grant chipped in 10 points, a career-high nine rebounds and eight assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miami got off to a good start, taking a 10-2 lead on Elijah McNamara's hook shot just over five minutes into the game.
- Coleman-Lands made back-to-back three-pointers to stretch the lead to 29-6 with 8:12 remaining in the half.
- The largest margin of the first half came courtesy of a Lairy triple from several feet behind the arc, putting Miami ahead 36-10 with 4:47 left in the period.
- The RedHawks scored the final five points before intermission to take a 46-23 lead to the locker room.
- Grant's basket with 16:40 to play gave Miami its largest advantage of the game at 58-27.
- The RedHawks maintained a lead of at least 21 points the entire second half.
NOTES
- Eleven different RedHawks scored in the game.
- Grant's eight assists matched his career high, set earlier this season vs. Heidelberg.
- Ayah, who came in leading the conference in field goal percentage at 75%, went 6-7 from the floor.
- This was the first-ever meeting between Miami and Spalding.
- Coleman-Lands made his first four three-point attempts of the game.
- Miami out-rebounded the visitors 41-30 and blocked six Spalding shots.
