Miami Travels to Western Illinois for Saturday Game

SATURDAY'S GAME: Off to a 5-0 start for the first time since 1995-96 and coming off a four-game home stretch, Miami hits the road for a 3 p.m. (ET) game at Western Illinois on Saturday, Nov. 27. 

ABOUT WESTERN ILLINOIS: The Leathernecks are off to a 4-2 start but are coming off a 72-68 loss at Eastern Michigan on Wednesday. Will Carius averages 15.8 ppg, while Luka Barisic (15.5), Colton Sandage (13.5) and Tranton Massner (12.3) follow.

THE SERIES WITH THE LEATHERNECKS: This is the fourth meeting with Western Illinois with the RedHawks holding a 3-0 lead in the all-time series. Miami notched a 67-57 win in Oxford On Dec. 9, 2020. The RedHawks won the only meeting in Macomb, 76-73 in overtime on Dec. 2, 2017..

UP NEXT: The Rivalry Returns presented by Foster & Motley as Miami hosts Cincinnati at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1. It is the Bearcats' first trip to Oxford since 2010. It is Devin Davis Night, and the Firecrackers Jump Rope Team will perform at halftime.

TELEVISION: Saturday's game will not be televised or streamed.

RADIO: There will be no radio coverage by the Miami Sports Network.

ROAD STREAKS: After its 72-69 win at Georgia Tech on Nov. 9, Miami extended its road win streak to five-straight dating back to the 2020-21 season. Last year, MU captured a 69-64 win at Northern Illinois (Feb. 20), a 96-54 win at Central Michigan (Feb. 23), a 74-66 win at Western Michigan (Feb. 25) and an 84-79 overtime win at Bowling Green on Mar. 2 last season.

BROWN RANKS 19TH NATIONALLY IN FREE-THROW PERCENTAGE: Senior forward Dalonte Brown has hit 94.4 percent of his free-throws this season, going 17-of-18 from the line. His lone miss of the season came in the opener at Georgia Tech on Nov. 9, and Brown has hit 16 consecutive free throws.

PRECIOUS MOMENTS: Senior forward Precious Ayah has shot the ball very efficiently to start the season, going 24-of-28 (.857) from the floor this season, just one made field goal shy of qualifying for statistical rankings. Ayah has gone 5-for-5 in each of the last two games. He has connected on his last 11 field goal attempts.

DAE DAE DOING A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING: Junior guard Dae Dae Grant is scoring a team-best 17.3 ppg this season, one of four RedHawks averaging double figures, while shooting 50.8% from the field. Grant leads the MAC in assist/turnover ratio while owning a team-leading 15 triples and ranking second in assists (22). He also is averaging 4.2 rpg. 

CENTURY CLUB: Senior forward Dalonte Brown is already a member of Miami's Century Club for games played (123). Three other RedHawks are closing in on joining him: senior forward Precious Ayah (98), senior guard Isaiah Coleman-Lands (98), senior guard Mekhi Lairy (92).

RAINING THREES: Three times this season, Miami has reached double digits for 3-pointers, including a 10 triples against Defiance on Nov. 23 and a 13-trey effort against Heidelberg on Nov. 20. Miami poured on the triples in its 104-75 win against Lamar (Nov. 13), draining 12 in the first half on the way to a 17-trey effort against the Cardinals, which ties for second on the RedHawks' single-game list. MU shot 60.0 percent from long range against Lamar in the opening half and 53.1 percent for the game.
