THIS WEEKEND: Miami hits the road for a pair of matches at Eastern Michigan this week. The dates of the matches were adjusted to Thursday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m.
ABOUT EMU & THE SERIES WITH THE EAGLES: Eastern Michigan enters the weekend with a 7-10 overall mark and a 2-4 Mid-American Conference record. The Eagles are coming off a four-set loss at Kent State on Saturday after a five-set win at Ohio on Friday. Miami owns a 45-15 lead in the all-time series with the Eagles and has won the last three matches, including a four-set win in Oxford in the last meeting on March 20, 2021. Eastern Michigan's last win in the series was in five sets on Nov. 18, 2018 in Oxford. Miami captured the last meeting between the teams in Ypsilanti on Oct. 12, 2018, 3-2. The RedHawks' last loss to the Eagles in the Convocation Center was on Oct. 15, 2010 in four sets.
TELEVISION: Both matches at Eastern Michigan will be streamed on ESPN3.
UP NEXT: Miami returns home to host a trio of matches next week, beginning with a 7 p.m. contest against Bowling Green on Wednesday, Oct. 20. The match will be aired on ESPN3/+. The RedHawks then entertain Central Michigan in a two-match weekend series, facing the Chippewas at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22 and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23. Both matches against CMU will be streamed on MiamiRedHawks.com.
HARPER JOINS 1,000 DIG CLUB: Needing just 12 digs entering Miami's Oct. 8 match against Western Michigan and recording 18 digs against the Broncos, senior
Gaby Harper reached her 1,000th career dig. She became the 18th player in program history to reach 1,000 career digs and currently owns 1,019. Harper also owns 896 career kills entering the weekend.
ODDS 'N ENDS:
- Sophomore Maggie McCrary is hitting an impressive .400 through Miami's six Mid-American Conference matches. She hit a scorching .750 in MU's Oct. 1 match against Akron, connecting on 13 of 16 attempts with just one attack error.
- Freshman Margo Lawson recorded back-to-back 20-dig efforts last weekend, amassing a career-high 23 digs against Western Michigan on Oct. 8 and following with a 20-dig performance against Northern Illinois on Oct. 9. Lawson's 23 digs are the second-most by a RedHawk this season. Sophomore Taylor Nomanson also has two 20-dig efforts with 25 against Marshall and 20 versus Howard.
- Senior Gaby Harper has played in 97 career matches and is poised to eclipse the 100-match mark in the last third of the season.
- Senior Gaby Harper has produced six kill/dig double-doubles this season, including two last weekend, notching 12 kills and 18 digs against Western Michigan on Oct. 8 and 15 kills and 13 digs against Northern Illinois on Oct. 9. Senior Sophie Riemersma has three kill/dig double-doubles, the last coming against Akron on Oct. 1 with 11 kills and 12 digs.
- Freshman Brooke Cirigliano leads Miami with 49 blocks this season and has recorded at least one block in each of the RedHawks' 16 matches. She has posted 12 multi-block matches, including two six-block efforts against Howard on Sept. 4 and Northern Illinois on Oct. 9.
- Miami boasts seven newcomers on its 2021 roster, comprising 41% of the MU roster.
ECLIPSING 750 CAREER WINS: With a 3-0 win versus Buffalo on Jan. 22, 2021, Miami head coach
Carolyn Condit posted her 750th career win. Condit owns a 764-580 career record entering her 42nd season as a head coach. Condit's 764 total victories are tied for eighth among active NCAA Division I coaches, and tied for 24th all-time. Owning more victories than any coach in the history of the Miami Athletic Department, Condit holds a 665-502 record and is in her 38th season in charge of the Red and White. Condit is the only volleyball coach in the history of the Mid-American Conference to win over 300 league matches, holding a conference mark of 366-222.
