
RedHawks Compete at Sycamore Team Challenge

Terre Haute, Ind. - After starting the season with two meets under their belt, the Miami University track and field squad continued their 2021 campaign with the Sycamore Team Challenge hosted by Indiana State. At the meet, the women claimed second-place as a team with 78 points, while the men's squad got third, with 76 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami had plenty of good performances in this meet. Emily Akin put together a win in the 3000-meter race, running a 9:47.69 for the title. This gives her the second-best time in the MAC this season. Kayla Walters also had a good day for the 'Hawks on the track, taking second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.98, improving on her preliminary time of 9.02.
- In the field events, the women's high jump was a highlight of the day as Meg Wilson had an individual victory in the long jump, with a 5.72-meter distance jump. Sydney Jefferson also got a victory of her own, winning the women's weighted throw, clearing a distance of 17.36 meters.
- For the men, Andrew Schroff and Sean Torpy both had a big-time run in the one-mile run, going one-two in the event. Anthony Camerieri also came through for the RedHawks in distance events, winning the 3000 meters run with a time of 8:20.63, nine seconds ahead of the second-place finisher from Bradley. Michael Davenport continued his success for the season on the field, winning the pole vault, clearing a height of 5.00 meters. Ryan Smith also had a fantastic day at Indiana State, winning the shot put, with a distance of 17.12 meters, along with a third-place title in the weighted throw.
