AKRON, Ohio - After a great start on day one, the Miami University track and field team continued to see more success on day two with two individual titles for the RedHawks against a competitive field at the Akron Invitational.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami had plenty of good performances in this meet. On the women's side, Julia Rushing came through with a title in the 3000-meter event, taking first place with a time of 10:20.69. Right behind Rushing was teammate Hailey Lowe, who earned second place with a time of 10:23.26.
- Distance events were vital for the RedHawks on day two of the Akron Invite, with Finley Mclear grabbing the title in the 800-meter run, finishing in 1:48.80. Andrew Schroff, the reigning MAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, finished behind Mclear, with a time of 1:50.29 to finish in second. Both Mclear and Schroff's times are on the season leaderboard for the conference with Mclear's time being the fastest in the 800 for the MAC so far this season.
- To finish an excellent day for Miami, Jacob Matthews competed in the 400-meter event, finishing in fourth with a time of 49.93.
