RedHawks Route Eagles For Third Straight Win, 85-63

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Miami University men's basketball team raced out to a 16-4 advantage and never looked back as it downed the Eastern Michigan Eagles 85-63 on Saturday night. Dae Dae Grant was outstanding all evening, scoring a career-high 28 points, while Dalonte Brown added 16 points and seven rebounds.
 
Miami picks up its first road win of the year and its third victory in the last five days, including wins versus Ball State (81-71) and Bowling Green (96-77). Miami has sole possession of fourth-place in the MAC with a 4-2 conference record and is now 7-4 overall. EMU drops to 4-7 overall and 1-6 in MAC play.
 
How it Happened:
  • Grant and Brown combined for 10 early points as the RedHawks led EMU 16-4 at the first media timeout. Grant then added his third triple of the contest as Miami commanded a 21-8 lead with 11:52 remaining in the opening stanza.
  • Out of the media timeout, Milos Jovic scored five quick points as the Red and White went on a 7-0 run to push its lead to 28-9. A Brown dunk game Miami its largest lead of the first half at 32-13 with just under six minutes to play.
  • EMU went on an 8-0 run over the next two minutes to cut the RedHawks advantage to 32-21 before Mekhi Lairy's pull up triple pushed Miami's lead to 35-21. Miami scored the game's next seven points and led 42-21 late in the first half. Miami went to the locker room up 42-23.
  • A pair of Grant triples extended Miami's advantage to 22 points early in the second half.
  • EMU slashed Miami's lead to 59-44 with an 11-4 run over a span of 2:30 with 11 minutes to play before Miami regained its 15 point advantage (65-50) at 7:39 mark.
  • Grant scored seven points in a 90 second span, including his sixth triple of the game, as Miami pushed its lead back over 20 points late in the contest.
 
Game Notes:
  • Miami scored a season high 42 first half points, eclipsing the 41 they scored on Thursday in the win over BGSU.
  • Grant recorded a career-high six three pointers en route to a career-high 28 points. His previous highs were 27 points and five made three pointers on Thursday versus Bowling Green. Grant added a season-high six rebounds.
