RedHawk Comeback Falls Short Versus Bulls, 75-67

OXFORD, Ohio- Despite scoring a season-high 15 bench points and a 26-point scoring effort from sophomore guard Peyton Scott, the Miami University women's basketball team fell to the University at Buffalo on Saturday afternoon, 75-67. The loss drops the RedHawks 1-6 overall and 0-3 in Mid-American Conference play. Buffalo moves to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in MAC play.
 
How it Happened:

  • Peyton Scott led the RedHawks with 12 points after 10 minutes of play. The two teams were tied with 22 points each after the first quarter. 
  • Buffalo gained a 14-point lead against the RedHawks after seven minutes of play in the second quarter. Tihanna Fulton and Jada Duckett added buckets midway through the second quarter as the RedHawks trailed by 10.
  • Buffalo led the RedHawks, 44-28, at halftime. Miami led the Bulls in rebounds during the first half 22-19.
  • Buffalo scored the first four in the third quarter to extend its lead to 20. Miami responded with a 21-9 run at the end of the quarter to narrow Buffalo's lead to 59-51. The quarter was capped with a jumper by Fulton at the buzzer.
  • Scott attempted to keep the RedHawks' comeback alive with several tough contested makes, but the Bulls came away with a 75-67 victory.
 
Game Notes:
  • Scott finished the game with 26 points, two shy of her career high.
  • Miami got a season-high 15 bench points, led by Fulton (8) and Duckett (7). Both Fulton and Duckett recorded career-bests on Saturday afternoon. Fulton (4) and Duckett (4) added career highs in rebounds as well.
  • Kenzie Schmitz had a career-high 10 rebounds.
  • Miami was 16-of-23 from the free-throw line, both season highs.
