Scott’s Career Day Not Enough For RedHawks in Loss to NIU

OXFORD, Ohio – Peyton Scott's career day was not enough for the Miami University women's basketball team, as they fell 87-79 to Northern Illinois on Saturday afternoon. While playing all 40 minutes, Scott finished with a career-high 34 points, while adding eight rebounds, seven assists and eight steals.

The loss drops Miami to 1-10 overall and 0-7 in Mid-American Conference play, while the Huskies move to 6-5 overall and 4-2 in MAC play.

How it Happened:
  • The RedHawks led NIU 19-17 after 10 minutes of play with an eight-point contribution from Katie Davidson and six points from Peyton Scott.
  • Scott and Davidson combined for 25 first half points, but Miami trailed 43-39 as the two teams went into the locker room.
  • Scott continued her career day, scoring 11 points in the third quarter, including a pair of triples, to keep the RedHawks close. NIU led 64-59 with 10 minutes left in the contest.
  • An Abbey Hoff triple cut NIU's lead to five with 45 seconds to go but the RedHawks could get no closer.

Game Notes:

  • Tihanna Fulton made her first career start.
  • Jada Duckett had the first two blocks of her career and established a career-high with seven rebounds.
  • Amani Freeman had a career-high eight points and four rebounds.
