OXFORD, Ohio - Despite one of its best defensive efforts of the season, the Miami University women's basketball team fell 61-41 on Wednesday night to the Eastern Michigan Eagles. The RedHawks fall to 1-9 overall and 0-6 in Mid-American Conference play. Eastern Michigan is 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the MAC.
How it Happened:
- The RedHawks led EMU after one quarter, 17-16. Kelly McLaughlin led the way with seven points. Miami was also a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line after 10 minutes of play.
- EMU opened a 29-19 lead with 2:30 to go in the second quarter before Miami answered with a 5-0 run to close the first half as the Eagles led 29-24.
- Eastern Michigan outscored the RedHawks 11-4 during the third to bring their lead to 40-28 and outscored Miami 21-13 in the fourth to close out the contest.
Game Notes:
- Miami came into Wednesday's contest averaging 16.5 offensive rebounds per game but could manage just eight versus the Eagles.
- EMU shot just 35.7 percent from the floor, Miami's second-best defensive effort of the season.
