ATHENS, Ohio—Senior forward
Dalonte Brown became the 37th member of the Miami University men's basketball 1,000 point club off a pair of free throws early in the second half, but it was not enough as the RedHawks (4-4; 1-2 Mid-American Conference) dropped a 78-61 decision at Ohio University (7-5; 3-3 MAC) on Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bobcats jumped out to a quick 12-3 advantage, but Miami staged an 8-0 run with four points from Brown to cut the Ohio advantage to one by the 13:12 mark of the first half, 12-11.
- The RedHawks trailed by three with just over two minutes to go in the half, but Ohio scored six unanswered points to take a 38-29 lead into the half.
- After Brown sunk his second-half free throws to cut the Bobcat lead to seven, Ohio pushed its lead to 17 on a 10-0 spurt.
- Miami got as close as 10 in the second half off a sophomore guard Dae Dae Grant triple at 9:30 in the second half.
NOTES
- Brown led Miami with 16 points, 10 coming in the first half, as he surpassed the 1,000-career point mark. Brown sunk a pair of free throws at the 19:31 mark of the second half to hit the benchmark. He led Miami with five rebounds.
- Junior guard Mekhi Lairy tallied 15 points and five assists.
- Grant chipped in 12 points, hitting four triples.
