ATHENS, Ohio—Senior forward Dalonte Brown became the 37th member of the Miami University men's basketball 1,000 point club off a pair of free throws early in the second half, but it was not enough as the RedHawks (4-4; 1-2 Mid-American Conference) dropped a 78-61 decision at Ohio University (7-5; 3-3 MAC) on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bobcats jumped out to a quick 12-3 advantage, but Miami staged an 8-0 run with four points from Brown to cut the Ohio advantage to one by the 13:12 mark of the first half, 12-11.
The RedHawks trailed by three with just over two minutes to go in the half, but Ohio scored six unanswered points to take a 38-29 lead into the half.
After Brown sunk his second-half free throws to cut the Bobcat lead to seven, Ohio pushed its lead to 17 on a 10-0 spurt.
Miami got as close as 10 in the second half off a sophomore guard Dae Dae Grant triple at 9:30 in the second half.

NOTES

Brown led Miami with 16 points, 10 coming in the first half, as he surpassed the 1,000-career point mark. Brown sunk a pair of free throws at the 19:31 mark of the second half to hit the benchmark. He led Miami with five rebounds.
Junior guard Mekhi Lairy tallied 15 points and five assists.
Grant chipped in 12 points, hitting four triples.
