Dickerson Becomes Miami’s All-Time Scoring Leader at Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio – The Miami University women's basketball team closed out the regular season with a 92-78 loss at Ohio.

Lauren Dickerson became Miami's all-time leading scorer on Saturday afternoon. With a bucket early in the third quarter, Dickerson secured her 2,167th career point, surpassing Courtney Osborn for first place on the scoring list. Dickerson now has 2,187 career points and is four assists shy of becoming Miami's all-time assist leader as well.

Dickerson wasn't the only RedHawk to find the record book on Saturday afternoon. Savannah Kluesner record 23 points and now ranks 10th all-time in Miami scoring with 1,328 points. She is also fifth in rebounding with 803 career rebounds after securing a career high 17 rebounds on Saturday.

Ohio raced out to a 6-1 lead just a few minutes into the contest, but Miami (11-19, 4-14 MAC) answered quickly to tie the score at 6-6 following a three pointer from Vannessa Garrelts and a top of the key jumper from Kluesner. Both offenses struggled the final six minutes of the quarter as Ohio led 13-12.

The Bobcats led by as many as 13 late in the half, holding a 34-21 advantage with 1:29 to play. Kluesner got into double figures with a layup late in the second quarter to send both teams to the locker room with Ohio up 34-23.

Ohio (18-11, 11-7 MAC) opened the second half on a 14-9 run to lead 48-30 with 5:16 left in the quarter. Miami went on a small run of its own to cut the lead to 14 at 56-42, but the Bobcats scored 12 points in the final 1:16 of the third quarter and led 68-44.

Up next for the RedHawks is the first round of the MAC Tournament. Miami's opponent is yet to be determined, but the RedHawks will play on the road Monday night. Stay tuned for more details.
